Top 7 water parks in Connecticut

The temperatures are rising as we enter the summer months. To keep cool, visit one of the top water parks located in Connecticut. They include well known amusement parks as well as small town splash pads.


  1. Saturation Station at Quassy Amusement Park - Located in Middlebury, CT this water park at Quassy Amusement Park is a crowd pleaser. A head turning feature is the tipping bucket, dumping water on people below. Choose from the modular play area, fountains, water canons, slides, water raft tunnels, anad the Bullet Bowl raft. For younger children, Quassy features a splash pad (no big kids allowed). As if you couldn't think of more ways to cool off this summer, guests have access to Quassy Beach on Lake Quassapaug. Some height requirements are applied to slides. Ticket options include regular access to the amusement park, combination rides and Splash Away Bay pass, Quassy Beach and water park area only, and discounts for seniors or military.
  2. CoCo Key - Save this indoor water park for a rainy day. CoCo Key features areas for swimming, slides, Adventure River, water basketball, and a play island. A snack shop is located inside. CoCo Key sells day passes as well as overnight accommodation packages as they are located inside a hotel. CoCo Key is located at 3580 East Main Street in Waterbury, CT.
  3. Lake Compounce - A variety of water rides and activities are at Lake Compounce to keep you entertained...and wet! Their water park features Riptide Racer to race other guests on slides, Anchor Bay slide and lazy river, and Mammoth Falls family rafting, 3 Tunnel Twisters. For the adventure seekers, try the darkened water slide where you will basically be traveling at high speeds blind by the darkness. For a more relaxed atmosphere hang by the wave pool, pirate ship, and Clipper Cove. Height requirements apply to some slides and activities. Admission cost to enter the amusement park includes access to the water park. Private cabanas are available to rent and stay in the shade, however it is at a cost. Lake Compounce is located at 186 Enterprise Drive in Bristol, CT.
  4. Splash Pad at Wolcott Park (West Hartford) - An alternative to a large water park at one of Connecticut's amusement parks are local splash pads. The best part...they are FREE! Younger kids will love setting off the motion sensors to activate the water. There are age restrictions to keep it safe for younger children. Adults must accompany children. No pets or toys are permitted. Street shoes are not permitted on the splash pad itself. The splash pad is located at 1134 New Britain Avenue in West Hartford, CT. West Hartford is home to a second splash pad at Kennedy Park at 160 Oakwood Avenue.
  5. Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park - For more of an adventure and interaction with water, consider Brownstone Park at 161 Brownstone Avenue in Portland, CT. Guests can enjoy swimming, hiking, biking, access to kayaks and snorkeling for $19, all of the above plus cliff jumping, rock climbing, zip line, inflatables, water slide, and rope swing for $29, or all of the above plus wake boarding for $39. The park is open daily and has a military discount.
  6. Spray Park at Recreation Complex (Colchester) - From 9:00 am to 9:00 pm the Spray Park is open at the Recreation Complex in Colchester, CT. The Pros - fun for the kids, keeping cool during warm weather, access to other park amenities, and it's free. The cons - no supervision by park/town. The park is located at 215 Old Hebron Road in Colchester, CT.
  7. Spray Park and slides at Ocean Beach Park (New London) - The highlight of the pool area at Ocean Beach Park is the spray pad and slides. The spray pad is perfect for a quick, refreshing cool down. There is a fee for access to the pool, however, the spray park is free from 10:00am-5:00 pm. The park is located at 98 Neptune Avenue in New London, CT.
